SHAH ALAM, Sept 26 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed on Saturday that he has not yet received a resignation letter from Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
“Wait for the resignation letter,” Anwar briefly told reporters when questioned about Loke’s intention to step down from the Cabinet.
The Prime Minister was speaking following the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Alumni Gathering held at the university’s Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor.
Loke offered to resign following a DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting on Sept 19 in response to the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The Seremban Member of Parliament had previously stated that he would formally submit his resignation letter upon returning to Malaysia from an official visit to China.
Commenting on a separate matter regarding the Registrar of Societies (RoS) order suspending all Perikatan Nasional (PN) activities ahead of the Melaka state election, Anwar directed queries to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
The RoS issued the suspension order against PN effective Sept 23 under Subsection 13(2A) of the Societies Act 1966, following an official notice served to the coalition on Sept 22.
