KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 – The Election Commission (EC) will convene a special meeting on October 7 to deliberate on essential matters and key dates regarding the upcoming 16th Melaka State Election.
EC Secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus confirmed that the meeting follows the official dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
“The special meeting will be chaired by EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun,” Khairul Shahril stated in an official release on Friday.
The commission will discuss critical operational milestones during the session, including the issuance of the writ of election, nomination day, early voting and polling dates, the specific electoral roll to be utilized, and general logistical preparations for the state polls.
The EC added that a press conference will be conducted immediately following the conclusion of the special meeting to announce the finalized timeline to the public.
The announcement comes after Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh declared the dissolution of the Melaka State Assembly on Tuesday, effective Wednesday, following formal consent from Melaka Governor Tun Mohd Ali Rustam.
