ALOR GAJAH, Sept 15 — Police have confirmed that skeletal remains discovered inside a barrel near the Durian Tunggal Dam reserve area in Machap last Sunday belong to a human, prompting authorities to open a murder investigation.
Alor Gajah Police Chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar stated that the case has been officially classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
“There are no further developments at this stage. The bones found have been confirmed to be human, and the case is classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” Ahmad said in a statement today. “For now, we have yet to determine the victim’s gender, while the post-mortem examination is continuing today.”
Ahmad noted that several items were recovered alongside the skeletal remains inside the barrel, including a blue pelikat sarong, a T-shirt, and a pair of shorts.
The discovery was made at approximately 11:40 am last Sunday by three individuals aged between 25 and 35 while they were fishing at the reservoir.
