SUNGAI BULOH, Sept 14 — DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke will propose to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council convene to address recent political developments stemming from statements made at the UMNO General Assembly.
Speaking after officiating the CARSOME Academy M.V.15 Vehicle Inspection Centre at the CARSOME Dealer Hub today, Loke expressed concern that recent rhetoric from component parties within the Unity Government could undermine political stability and investor confidence.
“Some of the statements made are of course not good in terms of political certainty and political stability in the country, as component parties in the government seem to not be heading in the same direction,” Loke said. “So this is something which would not give much confidence to investors and to the public. The Prime Minister must also make this clear with all component parties.”
Loke, who is also Transport Minister, noted that he would request Anwar, in his capacity as PH chairman, to call for the meeting once the Prime Minister returns from his overseas trip.
The remarks came in response to media queries regarding statements made by UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his winding-up speech at the party’s assembly, which touched on Barisan Nasional’s (BN) positioning within the governing coalition.
Pressed on whether PH would seek formal clarification or address challenges issued by the UMNO leadership, Loke maintained that any official top-level response should come directly from the Prime Minister.
