Zahid Calls for Workshop to Finalise ‘Blue Malaysia Agenda’ Blueprint for BN Manifesto

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 – UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called on the National Consultative Secretariat to refine the eight key initiatives of the “Blue Malaysia Agenda” into a comprehensive and practical blueprint during an upcoming workshop and retreat in Melaka.

Delivering his winding-up speech at the 2026 UMNO General Assembly (PAU 2026) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, Zahid emphasized that the strategic roadmap must progress beyond an ideological concept into actionable execution. Urging swift action from party leadership, he stated, “My suggestion is that the Blue Malaysia Agenda must not stop at being an idea; it must be translated into policies, actions and outcomes, and must be grounded and people-oriented. Let us make it a pledge in Barisan Nasional’s official manifesto for the next general election,”. Top party figures present during the address included UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, vice-presidents Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, alongside secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

The directive follows Zahid’s earlier presidential policy speech outlining the framework, which aims to chart Malaysia’s long-term trajectory toward its centenary of independence should Barisan Nasional (BN) return to lead Putrajaya. The agenda envisions building a sovereign, united, innovative, and high-income nation characterized by equitable economic growth and international standing.

Among its primary objectives, the blueprint seeks to transform Malaysia into a “creator nation” by setting clear benchmarks for high-technology, global-standard industries designed, created, and owned by Malaysians. The framework also redefines national economic metrics by establishing a benchmark for every family to retain at least 30 per cent of their income as disposable income after basic living costs to support savings, investments, and quality of life. Furthermore, the agenda advocates restructuring national priorities, including reforming the taxation framework with a reasonable rate for the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
