KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 – Police have launched a manhunt for two men who sped off during a routine inspection along Jalan Semenyih near the Kajang Prima traffic lights on Friday afternoon, ramming both a civilian car and a police patrol vehicle in their attempt to evade.
Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof stated that a Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) was conducting routine safety patrols in the area at approximately 3:15 pm when officers signaled a green Proton Wira to pull over for a check. “Both men, the driver and car passenger, then drove off towards Kajang when the police tried to obtain identification documents from them,” Naazron said in an official statement.
During the getaway attempt toward Kajang town, the fleeing vehicle struck a Perodua Ativa before crashing directly into the police MPV. Naazron confirmed that “the police MPV sustained damage to the right front door, but no civilian or police personnel was injured” during the collision.
Authorities are actively reviewing nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) feeds, gathering dashcam recordings from motorists in the vicinity, and recording statements from eyewitnesses to trace the suspects and the vehicle involved. The case is currently being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions.
