PUTRAJAYA, Sept 2 — A former minister arrived at the Magistrate’s Court here today for remand proceedings in connection with ongoing investigations into the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) Report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).
The suspect, a man in his 60s, arrived at 10:25 am clad in an orange Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) lock-up uniform.
He was detained at approximately 4:30 pm yesterday after presenting himself at the MACC headquarters to give a statement. The arrest is believed to be linked to investigations concerning a hotel lease agreement involving the pilgrims’ fund in Saudi Arabia.
The Tabung Haji RCI report, which was declassified and made public on July 29, documented various structural weaknesses in TH’s management and operations between 2014 and 2020. The report highlighted suspicious transactions, the concealment of financial information, and listed several problematic investments requiring a forensic audit.
