PUTRAJAYA, Aug 10 — Malaysia is set to bring together more than 1,000 policymakers, industry leaders, and maritime sector players from around the world for Malaysia Maritime Week 2026 (MMW2026), further strengthening the country’s position as a key maritime and logistics hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
In an official statement today, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) confirmed that the flagship event will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from Sept 28 to Oct 2. The gathering is organized through a strategic partnership with Malaysia International Shipping Corp (MISC) and the Malaysia Shipowners’ Association (MASA).
Carrying the theme “From Ambition to Action: Powering Maritime Excellence”, MMW2026 will serve as an international platform to deliberate on the future of global shipping, addressing critical issues such as decarbonisation, energy transition, supply chain security, digitalisation, and talent development.
“The event also strengthens Malaysia’s role in the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) agenda, while enhancing the country’s visibility as a progressive maritime nation and a regional logistics hub,” the ministry said.
The MOT outlined that the five-day gathering will feature a comprehensive programme structure, including a Strategic Roundtable Forum, Leadership Dialogue, targeted maritime financing sessions, four conference tracks, the ALAM Maritime Open Day, and the Malaysia Maritime Icon Award.
An industry exhibition running alongside the main convention will feature up to 80 booths represented by government agencies alongside local and international industry players.
This year’s edition is slated to be the most comprehensive since the launch of Malaysia Maritime Week in 2014, combining main sessions at KLCC with satellite programmes to maximize engagement across government bodies, financial institutions, academia, and the next generation of maritime professionals.
The ministry expressed confidence that MMW2026 will spur new investment inflows, accelerate decarbonisation and digitalisation goals across the sector, elevate human capital development, and deepen strategic alliances with international maritime partners.
