KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — The Central Leadership Council (MPP) of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (KEADILAN) has agreed to grant Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar a temporary leave of absence following her request to step down from the post, party Information Chief Fahmi Fadzil announced today.

In a statement issued after the MPP meeting, Fahmi disclosed that the leave will take effect following the conclusion of the party’s National Congress 2026 until a date to be specified later.

“However, after hearing the views of Nurul Izzah and the party leadership, the MPP agreed to grant her a temporary leave of absence starting after National Congress 2026 until a date to be announced,” Fahmi stated.

Following the decision, the MPP resolved that KEADILAN Vice President Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will temporarily perform the duties of Deputy President.

In a related organizational restructuring, the council agreed that Vice President Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari will fully assume the role of KEADILAN Election Director.

Despite her impending leave of absence, Nurul Izzah is scheduled to officially open the Wanita KEADILAN and Angkatan Muda KEADILAN (AMK) congresses on August 14, 2026.

Addressing recent political developments, the MPP formally stated that it accepts and respects the results of the state elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, extending its gratitude to all campaign teams for their hard work. The party also recorded its deep appreciation to former Negeri Sembilan Chief Minister Dato’ Seri Utama Aminuddin Harun for his outstanding service over the past two terms.

Additionally, the MPP approved the registration of 3,533 new party members who enrolled online between July 12 and August 2026.
