Kuala Lumpur, Sept 4 – YTL Power International Bhd (YTL Power) has confirmed that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has requested information from YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YTL Comms) for its assistance regarding the 1Bestarinet project.

“YTL Comms is providing its full support to the MACC in this matter and hopes that the matter will be resolved amicably,” YTL Power said in a statement. According to YTL Power, the 1Bestarinet project was awarded to YTL Comms in 2011 by the Ministry of Education (MOE) following an open program involving 19 companies.

YTL Comms was selected for the best technical support and cost. The Ministry of Education approved the project after successful completion of the contract period on June 30, 2019.

In an earlier report released today, a source said that “the investigation is based on allegations related to false information, linked to the payment of RM2.7 billion”.
