KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 4 – The progress level of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) in Terengganu is 86 percent complete, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

He said that this percentage made the state a fast-growing area compared to other areas such as Selangor, Pahang and Kelantan. “I believe that with the help of Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) and its contract partners, they will be able to complete the project as planned,” he said after visiting two ECRL stations today in Chukai and Kemasik. .

Ahmad Samsuri said that his party will also ensure that the transit-oriented development (TOD) in the area of ​​six ECRL stations in the state planned by his party can be completed at the same time. “We don’t want ECRL to be ready, but we haven’t done anything for TOD. This is why we had a discussion at the state government level this morning at the state leaders’ meeting (MMKN).

“Even after that, I will go to other areas to check the plans (of the company) and other things,” he said. He also said that among the things in the TOD are commercial and non-commercial matters that citizens, including businessmen, can contribute to make the ECRL better in order to increase the state’s economy. .

“So that’s one of the things we want for the ECRL area so that it’s not just a form of transportation or transportation, but it can create the economy of the state and, in the end, back to the people,” he added.
