MELAKA, April 7 — Ten Melaka deputy executive councillors (excos) were named tonight, to strengthen the administrative structure of the coalition government in the state.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, when announcing the 10 names after the state government meeting, said the composition of the deputy exco line-up is two assemblymen from Pakatan Harapan (PH) and eight assemblymen from Barisan Nasional (BN).
He said that out of that number, eight are new faces while the other two are former excos.
At the press conference after the meeting, he said that Rim assemblywoman Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar was appointed as deputy exco for Economic Planning, Finance, Land Affairs, Non-Government Agencies, Investment, Industry and Development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Taboh Naning assemblyman, Zulkiflee Mohd Zin, was appointed as senior deputy exco for Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management, while Serkam assemblyman Datuk Zaidi Attan was named deputy exco for Tourism, Heritage, Art and Culture.
Also appointed were Kota Laksamana assemblyman Low Chee Leong (Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security), and Duyong assemblyman Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halim (Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communication).
In addition, Bandar Hilir assemblywoman Leng Chau Yen was appointed deputy exco for Women, Family and Community Development, while Sungai Rambai assemblywoman Siti Faizah Abdul Azis was named deputy exco for Health, Human Resources and Unity.
Durian Tunggal assemblyman Zahari Abd Khalil was appointed as deputy exco for Infrastructure, Public Facilities and Transport; Kuala Linggi assemblyman Rosli Abdullah was named deputy exco for Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs.
Pantai Kundor assemblywoman Tuminah Kadi @ Mohd Hashim was named as deputy exco for Cooperatives, Entrepreneur Development and Consumer Affairs.
“As for Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations portfolio, we have not yet decided, as we are still waiting for the decision of those whom we contacted,” said Ab Rauf.
He also said that for the post of deputy speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, it will be decided later following Khaidhirah’s appointment as deputy exco.
