Kuala Lumpur, Nov 15 — Mobile phones are not allowed in voting areas for the general election, the Election Commission (EC) announced in a statement tonight.
Voters with mobile phones must place them in stipulated places after receiving their ballot papers and collect them after having completed voting.
“The implementation of the new voting guidelines can be referred to in the poster ‘10 Voting Steps Guidelines’ that explains the full voting process,” the statement said.

Further details will be posted on the EC’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.
Notices and posters about the mobile phone ban will be placed outside and inside voting areas as reminders.
The commission also reminded voters to remember to keep voting information to themselves and comply with the set voting measures while at voting areas (channels).
Polling day is Nov 19, while early voting takes place tomorrow for certain voters.
