Penang, September 13 — The content of Anwar Ibrahim’s speech last night at the Gombak Mega Keadilan Roadshow smacks of hatred, authoritarianism and the politics of abuse and revenge, according to Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly for Seberang Jaya Dr. Afif Bahardin.

“Anwar and other PKR leaders’ rhetoric is taking a turn for the worse and is of no relevance to the needs and welfare of the rakyat” he said in a statement, adding that Anwar and other PKR leaders now have no other plan or program for the rakyat except abusing political opponents with slurs like ‘traitors’.

“This strategy reeks of the disturbing elements of absolutism and one-party rule espoused by communist countries.”

“Listening to his speech last night, one would have thought Malaysia was no longer a democratic country where anyone has the right to leave a political party for another. This is the exact language applied by authoritarian polities and dictatorships against anyone who goes against the party line or leadership.”

“The cause of our split from PKR was because Anwar and the leadership around him were actively undermining the then government of the country due to the obsession to make Anwar PM as soon as possible.”

In the wake of the chaos created by them during that period, no meaningful reforms could be implemented. The rakyat’s welfare was being ignored for the sake of one man’s egomaniacal dream to be PM, the statement further added.

“We reject absolutely the politics of abuse, hatred and division which is now being championed by Anwar Ibrahim and PKR. We in Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional will focus on what is truly important for the economic security and general welfare of every Malaysian”

“We have no intention of being dragged into gutter politics or the mud-slinging which is now being practiced by Anwar and PKR. Only bankrupt politicians like Anwar and PKR thrive on the cheap politics of name-calling” he said.

Going further, Dr. Afif stated that it is the firm principle in Perikatan Nasional, especially Bersatu, to not drag voters into party factionalism or party politics or narrow party interests but to instead address the real needs of the rakyat, which is the economy, education and the welfare of those who need assistance.

“In short, the bread and butter issues which impacts the people, and not about who wants to be Prime Minister which is the permanent obsession of PKR and Anwar.”

According to his statement, Malaysians must come together and see for themselves the present danger that is PKR and to prevent them from dragging Malaysia into the communist-style politics of hatred and name-calling.

“It is only in Mao-style communism that anyone who leaves his party is condemned as a traitor, not in democracies.”

PKR is power hungry and has only the single goal of installing Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister to the exclusion of everything else. We must reject this new and very dangerous brand of hateful, divisive, obsessive, communist-style politics, he added.
