KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 – A new video clip is going viral on social media showing businessman Deepak Jaikishan incriminating former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor in the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh has urged the home ministry to get statements from Najib and Rosmah to clarify the allegations Deepak made in an interview with a foreign news agency last week, Bernama reported.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, Ramkarpal said the video recording was uploaded online recently, but has since been deleted.
“What Deepak said in the interview was important to the Altantuya murder case as it could pinpoint the motive behind her murder.
“Deepak had clearly stated that Najib was involved in the murder (of Altantuya).
“This is important because it happened more than 10 years ago. Is the Royal Malaysia Police so incompetent that they could not investigate and determine who ordered the murder?” Ramkarpal was quoted as saying by the national news agency.
Ramkarpal who is representing Altantuya’s family in a civil suit at the Shah Alam High Court which will be heard in January, also said if the allegations were untrue, then Rosmah and Najib should lodge a police report.
“This serious revelation has still not been answered by Najib’s wife. She did not lodge a police report nor do anything to deny the serious allegations.
“This is a lead which could help solve the question of the motive behind Altantuya’s murder,” Ramkarpal said, according to Bernama.
He also called for the police to take Deepak’s statement.
Altantuya was murdered in 2006 in the jungles in Puncak Alam, with her head reportedly shot before her body was blown up with C4 explosives.
Two policemen who were Najib’s personal bodyguards were found guilty and sentenced to death. One of them, Sirul Azhar Umar, managed to escape to Australia prior to the appeal hearing where the defence were fighting their conviction.
Sirul and Azilah Hadri have been sentenced to death over the Altantuya murder.
Sirul is now being held in an immigration detention camp in Australia. But the former Malaysian government were said to have not carried out any effort to have him extradited back here.
