KUALA LUMPUR, 7 August — Stern action will be taken against any person who takes part in the # Lawan rally on Aug 21, said Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
He said police had taken note that there were parties who planned to stage the rally which he described as an irresponsible action.
“This is because (it) violates the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the national recovery plan as well as neglects health safety during the Covid-19 outbreak,” he said.
“The police urge the public not to participate in any activities that violate the law and SOPs,” he said.

Acryl Sani also stressed that police would not tolerate those who organize or take part in any rally.
The Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat (SSR), which organized the July 21 Lawan protest here, had earlier reiterated its call for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to step down or face another gathering on Aug 21.
It said Muhyiddin had failed to lead the government and stabilize the country’s political situation, leaving the country struggling to emerge from the effects of the pandemic.
