Kuala Lumpur, 16 July — Two days ago, NMT reported on the recent criticism of MUDA by King Chai, a former press secretary to the Minister of Economic Affairs, who posted several screenshots on Twitter, tagging both Syed Saddiq and MUDA, and asked for further clarification regarding an Instagram post by @mudacheras for claiming MUDA had “managed to pack and deliver” food bags.
As an update to the ongoing issue, King Chai has further revealed that the issue has yet to be resolved as some of the parties involved had failed to act promptly and responsibly.
Taking to Twitter, King Chai said that “the students involved were called up by party leadership and belittled over the phone – highly unprofessional & now MUDA even returned 7 baskets to the students!“
A press statement issued by the organizers of the fundraiser, the Rotaract Club of Bukit Kiara Sunrise stated that the collaboration with MUDA has led to disappointment although it had started as a sincere and collaborative effort on the part of the students.
According to the organizers, a total of 250 packages of food aid were prepared to be distributed accordingly, but only 20 were to be channeled through MUDA. However, MUDA tried to claim credit for the work done by the students, leading to criticism.
To add to insult, the organizers further revealed that out of the 20 food aid packages entrusted to MUDA, 7 packages were not delivered although MUDA took the liberty to issue a statement that “all items were delivered via lalamove”
Instead of attempting to find more families who could have benefitted greatly from the help, MUDA then returned those 7 packages to the students who had organized the fundraiser.
