KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 — OKU Sentral in collaboration with Jakel Group and Yayasan Wanita Malaysia today presented grocery aid to 250 Sri Kota public housing residents in Cheras.
OKU Sentral president Senator Ras Adiba Radzi said the recipients comprised those from the B40 group, asnaf (those eligible to receive tithe) as well as persons with disabilities (PwD).
“I’m grateful that the collaborative effort with Jakel Group and Yayasan Wanita Malaysia has enabled the assistance to be delivered to those in need.
“Hopefully, this contribution will help ease the burden of the community here,” she said at the aid hand over ceremony.
Also present were Jakel Retail Operations general manager Azlan Abu Bakar and Yayasan Wanita Malaysia executive chairman Datuk Normala A Kahar.
Meanwhile, Azlan said the contribution was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to help those in need.
“This is Jakel’s annual event, conducted in collaboration with non-governmental organisations and for this year we contribute more than 100,000 bags of rice and basic necessities to the needy nationwide,” he said.
Normala said the foundation collaborates with OKU Sentral on a regular basis to mobilise various charitable activities.
“I contacted YB Senator Ras Adiba after receiving a letter from the president of the residents’ association in the area, asking for immediate assistance for the residents, and I’m grateful that today, we managed to distribute the aid through collaborative effort with OKU Sentral and Jakel,” she said.
